Oreo frosting

A delicious and creamy oreo frosting displayed on a show stopping oreo double tier cake.

Oreos are such loved cookies. They just go well with everything.
Think of ice cream with crushed oreos in or Oreo cheesecake what about oreo cake? Mmmm…. Just delicious!! Now what better way to jazz up a cake by dressing it up with some Oreo frosting aka Cookies and cream. (Sounds familiar?)

This Oreo frosting is made with a very basic buttercream. Simply mix your buttercream and add some finely crushed oreo cookies to it. You will be amazed!! The taste is just out of this world!!

Basic Buttercream

175g Unsalted butter, at room temperature
4-6 cups on sifted icing sugar
90ml milk
7ml vanilla extract
1 packet of oreo cookies (+/- 16 cookies)

Using an electric mixer, beat the butter until light and fluffy. On a low speed, add 2 cups of icing sugar to incorporate.
Increase the speed and beat again to light and fluffy. Add the milk and the vanilla and mix in.
Lower the speed and add 2 cups of icing sugar. Slowly increase the speed and mix until fluffy. If necessary you can add another two cups of icing sugar. It all depends on how spreadable or stiff you would like your icing.

Crush the oreo cookies using a food processor. Don’t waste time by taking the inside icing out. The cookies crushes very well still with the icing in. Because I like piping this frosting, I really crush the cookies very fine. This just ensures that there are no clogs in my nozzle and it ensures an even finish when spreading out the icing.

Once your cookies are finely crushed you can add them to your prepared butter icing. Mix until just incorporated.

Enjoy this icing on cupcakes or cakes. It complements a vanilla flavoured cake perfectly. If you are looking for a great recipe to try, check my post out
