With store-bought puff pastry as your trusty sidekick, you’ll whip up these irresistible treats in no time—perfect for parties, lunch boxes, or just whenever.

Easy cheese and bacon appetizers

Ingredients

1 package of store-bought puff pastry (2 sheets)
3/4 Cup cream cheese, softened
1 cup Bacon bits (Uncooked)
2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)
Onion, small. Finely diced
10ml Parsley, Dried
5ml Onion powder
5ml Garlic powder
Black pepper to taste
1 Egg ( egg beaten with a splash of water)

Directions

First, start by preheating your oven to 180°C. Then, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.

Take the puff pastry out of the fridge and let it sit for a few minutes to soften slightly. After that, on a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet just enough to smooth it out.

Now, smear a thin layer of cream cheese over each pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges. This will help the pastry to puff up nicely without spilling out the filling.

Then, divide your filling ingredients in half to spread between the two pastry sheets. Sprinkle the bacon bits evenly over the cream cheese, followed by an even layer of shredded cheese, finely chopped onion, parsley and the garlic and onion powder. Feel free to mix and match cheeses for extra flavor!

Time to roll it up. Starting from the long side, carefully roll up the pastry into a tight log, almost like a Swiss roll. Make sure the filling stays inside as you roll.

Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled pastry into 2.5 cm thick pieces.

Next, place the sliced pieces on the prepared baking tray, laying flat. Brush the sides with the egg wash for a beautiful golden finish.

Now, bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.

Finally, once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. You can garnish with chopped chives if desired.
