Cake in a mug

Have you ever had a Cake in a mug? Oh Man… This is such a simple and quick treat to make. All you need is a mug, a microwave and a few baking essentials – Yummy!!

Look making a big cake is always nice. But for one person it might be a little bit of a waste. All that effort and time spend making the cake, and at the end you are stuck with a whole cake, when you were in the mood for a slice. And by the way, who would not like their own cake?

You can easily make one with little trouble. Plus baking it in a microwave speed things up. By the time you are done cleaning the dishes you used, your cake should be done. 😉 How easy and fast is that?

So when you are stuck at home, why not try one of these four Cake in a mug to treat yourself of double the recipe up, and share your treat with your loved one.

Chocolate cake in a mug

Ingredients

4 tablespoons Self-raising flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon of chocolate chips or (1 block of a slab chocolate of choice)

Directions

In a large mug, place all the dry ingredients and mix well. Use the back of a spoon to break up any lumps there might be in the cocoa. Set aside.

Now add the egg onto of the dry ingredients and lightly just mix the egg to break the yolk.

Add the milk, oil and vanilla essence. Mix with a fork until well combined.

If you are using chocolate chips, you can now add them and stir them through the mixture.
If you are using a block of chocolate, push the block into the mixture about halfway.

Microwave on high for around 3 minutes.

Bar-one topping for Cake in a mug

Add something extra special by topping your chocolate mug cake off with a delicious Bar-one topping. (If you can not find Bar-one Chocolates you can always use Milky way chocolate)

Ingredients:
55 g Bar of Bar-one chocolate, chopped up
2 tablespoons of milk, or cream

Directions:
Heat the chocolate and milk in a microwave safe bowl. Frequently stopping to stir the mixture. If you would like your topping a little more runnier and a little more milk or cream.
Once the chocolate is melted, spoon over the mug cake.
