Who of you do not know a chocolate lover out there? There is always that one friend or family member that will forever be eating a chocolate or craving a chocolate. So this one is definitely for all the Chocolate lover’s out there! (Admittingly I’m also a big chocolate fan. But I have cut down my consumption tremendously.)
Anyway, back to the chocolate lovers in your live… Why not make their birthday celebrations this year extra special with a cake that just oozes with chocolate? A true chocolate lover’s dream cake!!
Here are a few cakes that I have made before that all belonged to chocolate lovers. The lovely thing about creating these cakes is that there is really no limit to what you can make. Adding some chocolate here and there, maybe a biscuit or Ganache. The options really are unlimited!
Start with a good cake
Every good cake creation needs a good base. Naturally a chocolate cake will just be the cherry on the top for any chocolate lover’s cake. This link is my mother’s recipe that she shared with me, and I have to say this might be the best chocolate cake that you will ever try! https://www.livingdelish.com/the-best-chocolate-ever/

Mmmm…. a double tier chocolate cake. This cake has two layers of chocolate cake. Each cake is covered with chocolate flavored butter icing. Follow this recipe to learn how to make butter icing as well as chocolate ganache. https://www.livingdelish.com/5-great-icing-types-to-try-today/ A little tip, when you make your butter icing, make sure to mix your icing for at least 5 minutes on a high speed. This will add some air/volume to the icing, making it less sweet. Once your cake is covered in butter icing, make sure to chill it for about an hour. This will help your ganache to set quickly when you pour it over your cake and it won’t just run off. Let the ganache on the cake sit for 15 minutes or so, then start decorating with all kinds of chocolates.

This is such an easy cake to recreate. One you have crumb coated your cake and set it in the fridge for about half an hour, you can start to add more icing to the sides on the cake. Use an icing comb, scrape the excess icing off, This will create lines on your cake. While the icing is still wet, add chocolate balls. The balls on this cake is chocolate malted balls in 3 different chocolate flavors.

You have probably seen a couple of these KitKat cakes all over the internet. And rightfully so, they are truly super easy to make and looks so impressive!! Once you covered your cake with butter icing, and before it dries start covering your cake with the KitKat fingers. Make sure to separate the fingers from each other. This allows to shape around the cake easier. Tie a bow around your cake to finish it of this also keeps the KitKat fingers in place. Now you can add smarties, M&M’s or any other small candy coated chocolates you might fancy on top of the cake.

Chocolate drip cakes are very popular. Maybe it has something to do with the look of chocolate dripping down the cake… so inviting…. 😋
It’s easy to recreate these cakes. Follow the tips in chocolate cake no.1.
Look for different chocolates, shapes, colors and designs to decorate the cakes with. Maybe even dust a Oreo cookie or two with some gold luster dust, just to add a bit of sparkle.
Enjoy recreating your very own chocolate lover’s dream cakes. Drop a comment or a photo. I would love to see your creations.
